The Portugal Getaways Algarve 1-Month package includes round-trip flights, 28 nights of aparthotel accommodation with a kitchenette at every property across 4 destinations (Lagos 8 nights, Carvoeiro 6 nights, Vilamoura 7 nights, Tavira 7 nights), a rental car for the full month picked up and dropped off at Faro Airport, and all taxes and fees related to the booking. Breakfast, guided tours, airport transfers, and city taxes are not included.

Each area of the Algarve has a completely different character. Lagos has the most dramatic Atlantic beaches and a historic old town. Carvoeiro is a small clifftop village with limestone coves and a genuinely local pace. Vilamoura is the premium side of the region, with a world-class marina, five championship golf courses, and restaurants that can hold their own against anywhere in Europe. Tavira in the east is the Algarve most tourists never find, with Moorish architecture, a Roman bridge, and the Ria Formosa lagoon. One month is the right amount of time to experience all four properly.

Every property includes a kitchenette with a fridge, and basic cooking equipment. The Algarve has excellent local markets and supermarkets, making self-catering straightforward and affordable. Properties are not always in the town center, and a short drive may be needed. The package price varies depending on the property selected. The standard option is a 3 or 4-star aparthotel, with upgrades available. Exact options are shown when you click a date in the booking calendar and proceed to the next step.

A rental car is included for all 28 nights. The standard vehicle is a compact manual car. Automatic transmission and larger vehicles are available on request at an additional cost. You will need a valid US or Canadian passport and driver's license at pickup. The car is collected at Faro Airport on arrival and returned there on departure day. The rental includes basic third-party liability insurance. A collision damage waiver (CDW) may already be included, depending on the rental company. Even with CDW, most rentals have a mandatory excess. We always recommend upgrading to the highest insurance level available, which can be arranged through the Portugal Getaways team.

There are no tolls on the routes between Lagos, Carvoeiro, Vilamoura, and Tavira within the Algarve region. If you drive outside the region, for example on a day trip to Seville or toward Lisbon, Portugal's electronic toll collection applies on motorways. Ask the rental company to confirm the toll device policy at pickup. Before your trip, the Portugal Getaways team will send you a travel checklist that includes a tolls calculator from Via Verde so you can estimate costs in advance.

Parking is available at all properties in this package but is not always free and is not included in the package price. You can check parking details for your specific property during the booking process or contact the Portugal Getaways team and we will confirm the details for you.

Breakfast is not included by default but can be added during the booking process. Contact the Portugal Getaways team when booking and we will do our best to arrange it. All properties in this package include a kitchenette for self-catering. Laundry facilities or service are available, though costs may vary. 

No. City taxes are not included and are paid directly at each property. Since this package covers four separate municipalities (Lagos, Carvoeiro, Vilamoura, and Tavira), each with its own city tax policy and rate, you will pay city taxes separately at each destination.

No. All activities listed in the day-by-day itinerary are optional and at additional cost. Popular add-ons include boat tours to Ponta da Piedade and Benagil, dolphin watching from Vilamoura marina, a Seville full-day guided tour, and Ria Formosa boat trips from Tavira or Faro. Tours can be added during the booking process.

For a 28-night stay you will likely need checked luggage. You can confirm what is included and add luggage during the booking process.

If you are travelling solo, the package price is based on two travelers sharing a room. A single supplement applies. You can check solo pricing by changing the number of guests from 2 to 1 in the booking calendar before clicking See Dates and Prices. The long-stay format suits autumn and winter particularly well. Autumn (October to November) stays warm at around 20°C to 24°C (68°F to 75°F), quieter than summer with excellent conditions for road trips and coastal walks. Winter (December to February) averages 16°C to 18°C (61°F to 64°F), far fewer tourists, lower prices, and the coast at its most peaceful. Spring (March to May) brings wildflowers and warming temperatures around 20°C (68°F). Summer (June to August) reaches 30°C (86°F), ideal for beaches but the busiest and most expensive period.

The Algarve is part of Portugal, consistently ranked as one of the safest countries in Europe for travelers, with no active conflicts and not affected by the current conflicts in Europe or elsewhere. Standard precautions apply throughout. In busy nightlife areas such as Albufeira, be aware of your surroundings and keep an eye on your belongings, particularly in crowded bars and on the strip at night. 

US and Canadian passport holders do not currently need a visa for stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period. Your passport should be valid for at least six months beyond your return date. ETIAS, a pre-travel authorization for Schengen Area travel, is not yet mandatory. When it launches, we will contact you in advance. 

The land portion of your package is refundable if cancelled at least 14 days before your travel date. Airfare is non-refundable from the moment it is issued, but the Portugal Getaways team will always check with the airline to explore options.
