A 4-hour tour by minivan in a small group of up to 16 guests. You visit a local Algarve winery for a tasting of 3 wines with a tapas plate of cheese and sausage, and see the production room and the barrel room. There is free time in Silves, the old Moorish capital with its red sandstone castle, before returning to Lagos through the countryside. Included: bottled water, local guide, hotel pick-up and drop-off in Lagos, the tasting, tapas and transport.

A 3 hour 30 minute catamaran tour of Ponta da Piedade and the Lagos coast, in groups of up to 45 guests. The crew explains the geology and history of the coastline, and there is time for a swim along the way if you like. Lunch is traditional roast chicken, served on board once the boat anchors in a sheltered spot, with drinks included during the meal.

On free days, central Lagos is easy to walk, and taxis or ride-sharing cover longer distances along the coast. The Portugal Getaways team can arrange day trips or a rental car if you would like.

Yes. A rental car isn't included in this package, but it can be added for part or all of your stay if you'd rather explore the Algarve at your own pace on your free days. Contact the Portugal Getaways team with the dates you'd like it for and we'll include it in your quote.

Your Lagos hotel is not always in the town center, so some light walking or a short transfer may be needed to reach the main sights. The Algarve works well most of the year. Spring (March to May): 16°C to 22°C (61°F to 72°F), comfortable for exploring. Summer (June to August): 24°C to 30°C (75°F to 86°F), the warmest and busiest time and the best season for the catamaran. Autumn (September and October): 20°C to 26°C (68°F to 79°F), with fewer crowds. Winter (November to February): 13°C to 17°C (55°F to 63°F), the quietest time to visit.

Yes to all three. The Portugal Getaways team can add nights in Lagos, include Lisbon or Porto, or adjust the itinerary. If you'd rather travel with a companion and share a room, contact the team and we'll requote the package without the single supplement.

Yes. The Algarve, like the rest of Portugal, is consistently ranked among the safest destinations in Europe, with no active conflicts and low rates of violent crime. US and Canadian passport holders do not currently need a visa for Portugal for stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your return date. ETIAS is not yet mandatory, when it becomes mandatory we will notify you in advance. Entry requirements and travel advisories can change, and it is the traveler's responsibility to confirm current requirements before departure.

The land portion of your package is refundable if cancelled at least 14 days before your travel date. Airfare is non-refundable from the moment it is issued.
