Summer in Madeira runs from May through October. May and June are mild and green, with temperatures between 18°C and 24°C (64°F to 75°F), ideal for hiking and sightseeing before the peak crowds arrive. July and August are the warmest and busiest months, reaching up to 27°C (81°F) on the coast, with the best beach and water conditions. September and October stay warm at around 22°C to 25°C (72°F to 77°F), quieter than peak summer and a good time for levada trails. The famous Festa da Flor (Flower Festival) takes place in spring, and New Year's Eve in Funchal is one of the most celebrated in Europe.
