This guided tour takes you through the property - the vineyards, the cellars, the history - and ends the only way it should: with a tasting of wines that taste exactly like the valley looks. Douro River Boat Tour with Lunch (Included)

This experience starts in Pinhão, right in the heart of the Douro Valley. From here, you’ll board a traditional boat and cruise along the river for about an hour, with vineyard-covered hills unfolding on both sides. It’s a calm and easy way to take in the landscape, with a welcome drink served on board. After the cruise, you’ll head to a local restaurant for a traditional lunch, where you can enjoy regional dishes in a relaxed setting. To end the experience, you’ll return by train along the Douro River - one of the most scenic railway routes in Portugal, following the curves of the valley.  It’s a well-balanced way to experience the Douro, combining river, food, and views without feeling rushed.

Suggestions for the afternoon:

• At Pinhão, spend time at the train station to see the azulejo panels depicting the grape harvest. 
• Drive 15 minutes to Casal de Loivos, the classic Douro viewpoint, or visit another quinta: Quinta do Seixo (Sandeman, with a dramatic modern tasting room) or Quinta do Crasto (older, family-run).
• Dinner at DOC on the riverside, a destination restaurant by Chef Rui Paula.

Suggestions for the day:

• Lunch stop in Coimbra, 30 minutes from Buçaco.
• Walk up through the old town to the University of Coimbra (UNESCO), visit the Joanina Library (tickets in advance, entry by timed slot), and stop at the Sé Velha.
• Lunch at Zé Manel dos Ossos, a tiny basement tavern known to everyone in town, or Solar do Bacalhau for a more proper sit-down.
• Coffee at Café Santa Cruz before driving 30 minutes through the Bussaco forest to the palace.
• Dinner at the Palace Hotel's restaurant, paired with bottles from a cellar that goes back to the 1940s.

Suggestions for the day:

Lunch in Évora, a UNESCO walled city roughly two-thirds of the way. Walk past the Roman Temple of Diana, visit Évora Cathedral, and the Chapel of Bones at São Francisco church. Lunch at Tasquinha do Oliveira (tiny, reservation essential) or Botequim da Mouraria (no bookings, arrive early). If time allows, the Almendres Cromlech, a 5,000-year-old megalithic site 20 minutes from Évora, is worth the short detour. Continue 45 minutes to Monsaraz, arriving mid-afternoon. First view of Lake Alqueva from the walls. Dinner at Sabores de Monsaraz or Xarez inside the village.

Discover one of Alentejo’s oldest wine traditions in Reguengos de Monsaraz (Included)

Step into the heart of Reguengos de Monsaraz and explore vinho de talha - a winemaking tradition that dates back over 2,000 years and is still preserved today. During this relaxed experience, you’ll learn how wine is made in clay amphorae, taste a selection of distinctive talha wines, and enjoy them alongside local olive oil and regional products. It’s a simple, authentic way to connect with the culture, flavours, and slower pace that define the Alentejo.

Suggestions for the rest of the day:

•  Visit Castelo de Monsaraz (the Moorish-era castle), Igreja Matriz, and the small pottery workshops on Rua Direita.

Cellar visit, wine tasting, olive oil pairing, and lunch at Herdade do Esporão (Included)

Round-trip drive: about 40 minutes each way, 35 km (22 mi) each way. Drive to Herdade do Esporão, one of the Alentejo's most respected wineries. Guided tour of the cellar, a flight of reds and whites with an olive oil pairing, and lunch at the estate's restaurant.

Suggestions for the afternoon:

• On the way back, stop in Reguengos de Monsaraz for coffee at the old square or to browse the local pottery (Olaria de São Pedro do Corval, five minutes away, is the region's pottery village). 
• Late afternoon back at your hotel. Sunset drink at the Monsaraz walls. Dinner in the village.

Suggestions for the day:

• Optional stops along the way. Estremoz has a Saturday marble-and-antiques market and the Alentejo lunch spot Alecrim em Flor. Vila Viçosa has the Ducal Palace and a marble-heavy old town. Arraiolos, slightly north, is Portugal's rug-making village.
• Afternoon and evening in Lisbon. Walk through Alfama and up to Miradouro da Senhora do Monte for sunset.
• Dinner options: Clube de Fado or Parreirinha de Alfama for a traditional fado dinner, or O Velho Eurico and Taberna da Rua das Flores for non-touristy Portuguese cooking.
