It’s time to explore Ponta Delgada, the main city, that beckons not only with its charming streets and vibrant atmosphere but also with its status as the economic heart of the archipelago. Ponta Delgada evokes all the charms of Europe with cobbled streets, sidewalk cafes, and a thriving culinary scene.

Start the day at a traditional pineapple plantation, grown in greenhouses, with a tasting of pineapple liqueur. Continue to the island’s west coast for stunning views from Pico do Carvão, where both north and south shores can be seen. From Vista do Rei, admire the Sete Cidades volcanic complex and its iconic twin lakes, followed by a stop at Santiago Lake and lunch in the village of Sete Cidades.
In the afternoon, travel along the coast to Capelas, once an old whaling village, and enjoy the view from Pedras Negras. Visit Ribeira Grande’s historic center and a regional liqueur factory with tastings. Optionally, relax at Caldeira Velha nature reserve with a warm waterfall bath. End the tour at the breathtaking Lagoa do Fogo viewpoint before returning to Ponta Delgada via Pico da Barrosa.

On this 3-hour boat trip, you may encounter some of the 28 cetacean species found in Azorean waters, including whales and dolphins, as well as turtles, seabirds, and other marine life. Before departure, a marine biologist will brief you on the species, safety measures, and responsible observation practices.
