About the Accommodation

Twenty years ago an Azorean family bought the land to build their holiday home. Their eldest son João, a young architect, took on the design and construction of the house. The imposed budget limit, his respect for the island and early on his concern for sustainability resulted in the design of a house with natural ventilation systems, plenty of sun exposure, use of local materials (Cryptomeria and Basalt) both in the construction of the house and in its interior. The Challet is a house with history, looking for more stories, on an island with so many others, to be lived and told.
