The rental car is included for your whole stay, picked up at Faro Airport on arrival and returned there before your flight home. The standard vehicle is a compact car with manual transmission; a larger car or an automatic can be added at an extra cost. Child seats can be requested through the Portugal Getaways team. At pick-up you need your driver's license and passport.

The rental car includes basic insurance. Most rentals still carry an excess, so we recommend upgrading to the highest insurance level. The Portugal Getaways team can arrange this for you.

The resorts in this package have parking on site or nearby. Parking is not always free, and parking costs are not included in the package price. Please check the parking conditions during the booking process. No. The A22 motorway, which runs the length of the Algarve, is free to use. Tolls apply on the A2 motorway between the Algarve and Lisbon and are not included in the package. You can estimate costs with the Via Verde toll calculator.

With the car, the western Algarve is easy to explore. Zoomarine, with dolphin shows and a water park, is about 45 minutes away. Lagos and Ponta da Piedade are about 30 minutes away, with boat trips to the sea caves. Praia dos Três Irmãos is a few minutes from Alvor, and the Monchique hills are about 45 minutes inland. Tickets and boat trips are not included and can be added through the Portugal Getaways team.

Spring (April to June): 18°C to 24°C (64°F to 75°F) and fewer crowds. Summer (July and August): 28°C to 35°C (82°F to 95°F), school holidays and the busiest period. Autumn (September and October): 22°C to 27°C (72°F to 81°F), with the sea at its warmest. Some resorts close in winter, so check availability for your dates.

The land portion of your package is refundable if cancelled at least 14 days before your travel date. Airfare is non-refundable from the moment it is issued.
