- Lisbon (3 nights): The capital, with Belém's monuments, the Alfama district, Fado, and Sintra a 40-minute train ride away.
- Évora (2 nights): A UNESCO World Heritage city in the Alentejo with Roman ruins, a medieval historic center, and some of the best wine in Portugal. Most visitors pass through Évora on a day trip from Lisbon. Staying 2 nights gives you time to understand why it is different from anywhere else in the country.
- Algarve (3 nights): The southern coast, with golden cliffs, beaches, fresh seafood, and a boat trip to the Benagil Cave.
Three train journeys are included, all in first class. Porto to Lisbon takes approximately 3 hours. Lisbon to Évora takes approximately 1 hour 45 minutes. Évora to the Algarve takes approximately 3 hours 30 minutes. Transfers from your hotel to the station and from the station to your next hotel are included at every stop. The exact departure times are confirmed on your booking voucher.
Train delays in Portugal are uncommon but can occasionally occur. If your train is significantly delayed or cancelled, the Portugal Getaways team will guide you through the next steps and liaise with the operator on your behalf. Contact the team as soon as you are aware of any disruption. Our regular number is available every day from 8:00 AM to 12:00 AM Azores Time and an emergency contact is provided in your trip documents for outside office hours.
Yes. The Portugal Getaways team can adjust the order of destinations, swap a stop for an alternative, or replace a city with somewhere else entirely. The most common adjustments are adding Porto or extending Lisbon. Contact the team before booking with your preferences and we will put together an adjusted itinerary. Additional costs may apply depending on the changes requested.
Yes. Sintra is most easily visited as a day trip from Lisbon by train and does not require an overnight stay, though one can be added. Fátima is a popular addition between Porto and Lisbon or as a day trip from Lisbon. Madeira and the Azores can be added before or after the mainland portion of the trip. Contact the Portugal Getaways team with your preferences and we will adjust the itinerary. Additional costs apply.
One checked bag and one carry-on per person is manageable on Portuguese trains. Luggage is stored in overhead racks or at the end of the carriage. The transfers between hotels and stations are included and handled by local drivers, so you are not carrying bags across platforms unassisted. That said, lighter luggage makes the trip noticeably more comfortable, particularly in Évora and Lisbon where some hotel entrances involve steps or narrow corridors.
Yes, round-trip flights are included. The package price varies depending on your departure airport. Other departure cities are available on the package page and additional options are available on request. Contact the Portugal Getaways team before booking to discuss departure options. Seat selection, extra baggage, and cabin class upgrades can be arranged as paid add-ons, subject to availability.
Checked luggage is not always included and depends on the airline and fare type in your package. You can confirm what is included and add luggage during the booking process.
The package includes 3 and 4-star hotels as standard across all four destinations, with an upgrade to 5-star available. The package price varies depending on the hotel selected. Most properties are centrally located and within easy reach of the main sights on foot or by public transport. In the Algarve, properties are spread across the Portimão and Albufeira areas, all near beaches but not exactly in a town center. Exact options are shown when you click a date in the booking calendar and proceed to the next step. Contact the Portugal Getaways team to discuss preferences before booking.
Breakfast is not included by default but can be added during the booking process.
No. City taxes are not included and are paid directly at each hotel on arrival or checkout.
No. All transfers are included at every stop. Porto and Lisbon are walkable and well served by metro, trams, and taxis. Évora is compact and the entire historic center is easily explored on foot from the hotels in the package. In the Algarve, the package hotels are near beaches but not in town centers, so taxis or ride-hailing apps are useful for reaching restaurants and attractions. If you want to explore the Algarve coastline independently, a rental car can be added for some or all of your Algarve stay. Contact the Portugal Getaways team when booking and we will arrange it.
Ride-hailing apps have limited coverage in the Algarve outside the main resort towns. Taxis are available but become harder to find in rural areas. Public buses exist but are infrequent and do not serve most beaches and attractions reliably. For the Algarve leg of this trip, a rental car is the most practical option for independent exploration and can be added.
Yes. A Seville full-day guided bus tour can be added directly when you book. Contact the Portugal Getaways team and we will include it in your quote. For Tangier in Morocco, reachable by ferry from Tarifa in Spain, the team can also help arrange the logistics.
No. All activities listed in the day-by-day itinerary, including Douro Valley tours from Porto, Sintra day trips from Lisbon, Alentejo winery visits from Évora, and boat tours in the Algarve, are optional and at additional cost. Tours can be added during the booking process.
This package works well year-round. Spring (April to May) brings mild temperatures around 18°C (64°F) across all four destinations, fewer crowds, and lower prices. Summer (June to August) is warm, reaching 30°C (86°F) in the Algarve, the best season for beaches but the busiest and most expensive period. Autumn (September to October) offers warm weather around 22°C (72°F), quieter conditions, and good value. Winter (November to March) is mild at around 14°C (57°F), well suited to Porto, Lisbon, and Évora, with the Algarve averaging a comfortable 16°C to 18°C (61°F to 64°F).
The package price is based on two travelers sharing a room. Solo travelers pay a single supplement. Contact the Portugal Getaways team directly and we will make it easy. You can also check solo pricing by changing the number of guests from 2 to 1 in the booking calendar before clicking See Dates and Prices.
Portugal is consistently ranked as one of the safest countries in Europe for travelers, with no active conflicts and not affected by the current conflicts in Europe or elsewhere. Canadian and US passport holders do not currently need a visa for stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period. Your passport should be valid for at least six months beyond your return date. ETIAS, a pre-travel authorization for Schengen Area travel, is not yet mandatory. When it launches, we will contact you in advance.
The land portion of your package is refundable if cancelled at least 14 days before your travel date. Airfare is non-refundable from the moment it is issued, but the Portugal Getaways team will always check with the airline to explore options. Travel insurance with cancellation cover is strongly recommended. This summary does not replace the full terms and conditions of your booking, which we encourage you to read before confirming.
For general support during office hours, contact the Portugal Getaways team at our regular number. Support is available every day from 8:00 AM to 12:00 AM Azores Time. Outside office hours, an emergency number is provided in your trip documents. For local emergencies in Portugal, dial 112.
