Why This Package Is Worth It

Everyone said do Porto and Lisbon. Nobody mentioned you could finish with two weeks by the sea, without ever renting a car.
Except for your Portuguese experts, building trips for over 15 years.
Four nights in Porto with a guided Douro Valley day among vineyards no photo prepares you for, then three hours south by train to four nights in Lisbon and a guided Sintra day between palaces that look invented. Then the part most tours skip: the train keeps going, and you stop moving. Two weeks in an Algarve aparthotel with a kitchenette, where January feels like October and the biggest decision of the day is which café, until one calm morning a boat cruise slides beneath the golden cliffs of Ponta da Piedade, the coastline you came for, seen the way it deserves. Flights, trains with reserved seats, transfers and one highlight tour in every destination, all already handled.
See the country like a traveler. Finish it like a local.

Properties for this package are 4-star in Porto and Lisbon, both centrally located for exploring on foot (light walking may be needed). For the 14-night Algarve leg, we chose Lagos as the base: it's compact enough to explore without a car, close to Ponta da Piedade and some of the Algarve's best beaches. he Algarve stay uses standard 4-star studio and aparthotel-style accommodation, giving you a kitchenette for a stretch of the trip long enough that home-cooked meals make a real difference. The package price depends on the hotel selected for each leg, and hotels are not always in the city center; some light walking may be needed. Exact properties are confirmed at booking or shown on the next step when you click See Dates and Prices. Upgrade and more budget-friendly options are available on request.
Breakfast is not included by default, but it can be added during the booking process or prioritized on request. Contact the Portugal Getaways team when booking and we will do our best to arrange it.

Yes. Extra nights can be added at Porto, Lisbon, or the Algarve. This affects your flight and train dates, so confirm with the Portugal Getaways team when requesting your quote rather than after booking.
This 22-night trip works best in spring or autumn, when Porto, Lisbon, and the Algarve are all comfortable at once, days average 18 to 22°C (64 to 72°F) in the north and center, cooling slightly to 16 to 20°C (61 to 68°F) by the coast, without the crowds or heat of summer. Winter is a strong option too, since the trip leans heavily on the Algarve's 14 mild nights, generally 16 to 18°C (61 to 64°F), even as Porto turns cooler and rainier. Summer brings the warmest weather everywhere, but also the busiest trains, fullest hotels, and hottest afternoons for walking through Porto and Lisbon on foot.
Porto and Lisbon are both compact and walkable, with ride-sharing services operating normally in both cities. In Lagos and the wider Algarve, it is available in the main towns but not in more interior or rural areas, so taxis and regional buses fill the gap where it doesn't reach.
Yes. Portugal, including Porto, Lisbon, and the Algarve, is consistently ranked among the safest countries in Europe, with no active conflicts and low rates of violent crime. As with any destination, standard precautions apply: keep an eye on belongings in busy areas like train stations, markets, and tourist spots. Travel advisories can change, so it is the traveler's responsibility to check the current advisory for Portugal from the US State Department or Government of Canada before departure.
US and Canadian passport holders do not currently need a visa for Portugal for stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your return date. ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System) is not yet mandatory for visa-exempt travelers entering the Schengen Area, including Portugal. When it becomes mandatory, we will notify you in advance. Entry requirements can change, and it is the traveler's responsibility to confirm the current requirements for their passport and travel dates before departure.
⚠️ Please note that entry into the United Kingdom requires an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) for many visa-exempt travellers, including eligible U.S. and Canadian citizens. If your itinerary includes arrival in, departure from, or a transit or layover through the United Kingdom, you may be required to obtain an ETA before travel.
The land portion of your package is refundable if cancelled at least 14 days before your travel date. Airfare is non-refundable from the moment it is issued. Travel insurance with cancellation cover is strongly recommended. This summary does not replace the full terms and conditions of your booking, which we encourage you to read before confirming. For general support during your trip, contact the Portugal Getaways team at our regular number, available every day from 4:00 AM to 8:00 PM Eastern Time. Outside those hours, an emergency number is provided in your trip documents. For local emergencies in Portugal, dial 112.
