Suggestion for the day: Furnas, the Thermal Hot Spot of the Azores

• Miradouro Pico do Ferro: a panoramic view of Furnas Lake among the volcanic caldeiras
• Poca da Dona Beija and Terra Nostra Park: Furnas' hot springs, Terra Nostra also has a botanical garden considered among Europe's finest
• Cozido das Furnas: vegetables and meat slow-cooked underground for seven hours. If you're there between 11:30 AM and 12:00 PM, you can see the pots being retrieved from the Caldeiras before they go to the restaurants
• Furnas Lake & A Grena Park: a walk around the lake and the Nossa Senhora das Vitorias Chapel
• Fumaroles: steam vents and bubbling mud pools in the center of town, also the source of naturally flavored spring water worth tasting
• Gorreana Tea Plantation: Europe's oldest working tea farm, established in 1883

The Art of Traditional Fishing (Included)

Depart from Rabo de Peixe on a traditional local boat with Leonardo, a local fisherman. The route isn't fixed, it's adapted daily based on sea conditions and your interests. Suitable for beginners and experienced anglers alike, and you're welcome to keep what you catch.

Back at your accommodation, many properties have a kitchen, private or shared depending on the property, where you can cook whatever you caught.

Important information:

• Departure: 8:00 AM (check-in 7:45 AM). 
• Duration: varies by sea conditions and route, up to 4 hours. 
• Recommended age: 16 and up. 
• Note: there is no hotel pickup for this excursion, you'll drive yourself to Rabo de Peixe.
• Meeting Point: Rua do Porto de Ribeira Grande, Rabo de Peixe, 9600-111 São Miguel Island

Suggestion for the day: The Island's Northeast Corner

• Ribeira dos Caldeirões Park: a cascading waterfall, an old watermill, and smaller waterfalls along the walk
• Arnel Lighthouse: the oldest lighthouse in the Azores, best seen from the viewpoint, the steep descent isn't recommended by car
• Ponta do Sossego: gardens with ocean views, good for sunrise or a picnic
• Faial da Terra: a parish known as the "Nativity Scene of the Island," with the Sanguinho trail, a medium-difficulty 4.5km (2.79mi) hike taking about 2 hours 30 minutes
• Povoação: the first settled area on São Miguel, worth stopping for a Fofa da Povoacao, a local pastry similar to an eclair

Suggestion for the day: The South Coast

• Vila Franca do Campo: the island's former capital, best known for the Vila Franca Islet just offshore, a circular islet nicknamed the "Princess Ring," reachable only by boat tour, with a crater you can swim in. Try a queijada da Vila, a local pastry, before leaving town.
• Lagoa: a coastal municipality between Ponta Delgada and Vila Franca do Campo, worth a stop on the way through.
• Caloura: a small fishing village within Lagoa, with a natural swimming area around its harbor and a well-known local winery nearby.
