Algarve: All-Inclusive with Car

The package includes round-trip flights, 6 nights at an all-inclusive resort in the Algarve, meals and drinks at the resort and a rental car for the whole stay, picked up and dropped off at Faro Airport. Booking taxes and fees are included. The local tourist tax is paid at the resort.

Contact the Portugal Getaways team before booking to discuss departure options. Checked luggage is not always included and depends on the airline and fare type. Confirm what is included and add luggage during the booking process. Seat selection and cabin class upgrades can be arranged as paid add-ons, subject to availability.

The package includes 4-star and 5-star all-inclusive resorts in or near Albufeira and Alvor. Not every resort is directly on the beach; the others are within walking distance or a short shuttle ride. The package price varies depending on the resort you choose. Some resorts are more family-oriented, so ask the Portugal Getaways team if you would like a quieter one.

The rental car is included for your whole stay, picked up at Faro Airport on arrival and returned there before your flight home. You drive straight from the airport to your resort. The standard vehicle is a compact car with manual transmission. An automatic car is available on request at an extra cost. At pick-up you need your driver's license and passport.

The rental car includes basic insurance. Most rentals still carry an excess, so we recommend upgrading to the highest insurance level. The Portugal Getaways team can arrange this for you.

The resorts in this package have parking on site or nearby. Parking is not always free, and parking costs are not included in the package price. Please check the parking conditions during the booking process. If free parking is a priority for you, contact the Portugal Getaways team: we will prioritize resorts with free parking and send you a quote.

No. The A22 motorway, which runs the length of the Algarve, is free to use. The bridge into Spain over the Guadiana and the Spanish motorway to Seville are also free. Tolls apply on the A2 motorway between the Algarve and Lisbon and are not included in the package. You can estimate costs with the Via Verde toll calculator.

The rental car is the most practical way to explore the Algarve. Uber has limited availability outside the main resort towns. Public buses connect the main towns but are infrequent and do not reach most beaches and viewpoints. Taxis are available but expensive for longer distances.

No. The tourist tax is paid directly at the resort and is not included in the package or in the all-inclusive plan.

Many all-inclusive resorts in the Algarve close from late November through January, so the package is usually available from February to late November. The best months are April to October. Contact the Portugal Getaways team to confirm availability for your dates.

Spring (April to June): 18°C to 24°C (64°F to 75°F), fewer crowds and the best conditions for exploring the coast and inland towns. Summer (July and August): 28°C to 35°C (82°F to 95°F) and the busiest period. Autumn (September and October): 22°C to 27°C (72°F to 81°F), the sea at its warmest and fewer people after mid-September. Winter (November to March): 14°C to 18°C (57°F to 64°F), but most all-inclusive resorts are closed.

With the car, the whole coast is within reach. The sea caves at Benagil are best seen on a boat trip from Carvoeiro or Albufeira. The cliffs at Ponta da Piedade, near Lagos, are about 45 minutes west. Cabo de São Vicente, the southwestern tip of Portugal, is about 1 hour 15 minutes from Albufeira. Praia da Marinha, near Lagoa, is one of the most photographed beaches on the coast.

A day trip to Seville is not included but can be added. Seville is about 2 hours 30 minutes from Albufeira by car. The Cathedral, the Real Alcázar and the Santa Cruz quarter are the highlights. Contact the Portugal Getaways team and we can add a guided Seville excursion to your trip.

It is possible, but it makes for a very long day. Tangier is reached by ferry from Tarifa in Spain, which is about 4 hours from Albufeira by car, plus about 1 hour on the ferry. A guided trip to Tangier can be arranged as an add-on; contact the Portugal Getaways team before booking. US and Canadian passport holders do not need a visa for Morocco for stays of up to 90 days.

Portugal is consistently ranked among the safest countries in Europe, with no active conflicts and not affected by the current conflicts in Europe or elsewhere. Standard precautions apply in busy tourist areas. US and Canadian passport holders do not currently need a visa for stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period. Your passport should be valid for at least six months beyond your return date. ETIAS is not yet mandatory; when it becomes mandatory, the Portugal Getaways team will notify you in advance.

The land portion of your package is refundable if cancelled at least 14 days before your travel date. Airfare is non-refundable from the moment it is issued.
